We were born of one cell

It had started out well

Yet the moment we fell

Meant atonement in hell

SHE

So that right from the start

We were never apart

To offend Cupid's dart

Were we born of one heart

We knew where it would lead

And so was it decreed

We had even agreed

To abstain from the deed

Many sought to take aim

To extinguish a flame

That was fraught with such shame

Neither were we to blame

On the tree was a pear

It was rosy and fair

And we plucked of its fare

While the serpent was there

HE

There was trouble ahead

With a son born and bred

Just the one we had said

Now he's buried and dead

With such mountains to climb

To atone for a crime

Without reason or rhyme

Crossed us time after time
